2024 was an exceptional year for NIGP Certified Procurement Professionals (NIGP-CPP) as the program was accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). This achievement validates that our certification meets the rigorous international standards of ISO 17024. NIGP and our colleagues at the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) are the only two associations serving the procurement and contracting profession that have earned this coveted accreditation.

2024 also reflected exceptionalism as the NIGP Certification Commission conferred an additional 358 NIGP-CPP certifications to procurement leaders throughout North America. Today, more than 1,600 professionals have demonstrated their competency-based qualifications by earning their NIGP-CPP.

The Sunshine State continues to lead North America with the highest concentration of NIGP-CPPs…a total of 312 Florida leaders since the inception of the program in Spring 2020 including the 72 certificants listed below who earned their designation in 2024:

The program’s reputation as the most relevant leadership certification will continue in 2025. The Commission recently reviewed the results of the 2024 Job Task Analysis survey which provided input from more than 1,000 leaders within the procurement community. The survey concluded that there are additional leadership competencies emerging within the public procurement profession that should be assessed. As a result, we anticipate that an expanded number of competency statements will be added to future NIGP-CPP exam modules by no later than the November 2025 testing window. (Candidates registering for exams prior to November should prepare based on the current 43 competency statements listed in the current Handbook).

The Commission will publish these additional competencies well in advance of the effective testing window; providing ample opportunity for candidates to prepare for the revised exam modules. At the same time, NIGP’s Content team will build learning programs and prep materials to support these additional competencies. The revised modules will also be incorporated into the next edition of the NIGP-CPP Certification Handbook – along with any policy changes affecting candidate eligibility, exam content, or re-certification requirements.

If you have been waiting for the right time to earn your NIGP-CPP, make 2025 your goal. There continues to be monumental shifts in the public procurement workforce with new team members joining public procurement organizations daily. This dynamic situation provides great opportunities for veteran team members to move up and take on leadership roles. Why not demonstrate your leadership competencies by earning your NIGP-CPP?
